Columbiana United Methodist Church offers a wide variety of opportunities to adults of all ages.  We strive to maintain a balance between spiritual enrichment, fellowship and education.  Join us in experiencing God’s grace as He works through each of us.

Sunday School
We offer several adult Sunday School classes, which meet between 10:00 and 10:45 each Sunday morning.

Worship

Columbiana United Methodist offers two opportunities to focus our hearts and minds in worship on Sunday mornings.  Our contemporary service meets from 9:00 am to 10 am each Sunday in the Multi-Purpose Room.  You are invited to come early to enjoy refreshments and fellowship between 8:30 and 9:00 am.
Our traditional service meets in the Sanctuary each Sunday morning at 11:00 am.  Talented individuals share their musical abilities at both worship services, volunteer as children’s church leaders, ushers, technical support teams, hostesses, worship committee members, etc.  For those who are called to serve, there are always services needed.

Special worship services are added to the schedule during the seasons of Advent and Lent.  These special services help us remain focused on the true meaning of these observances.

Worship Band

Our Praise Band is a vital part of our contemporary service and is made up of talented musicians of all ages.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is a cornerstone of our traditional services and is led by Director of Worship Arts, Nic Patterson.  This group of volunteers meets each Wednesday night at 5:30 to rehearse for Sunday services.  In addition to weekly anthems the group prepares special presentations at Easter and Christmas, and summertime musicals.

Disciple Bible Study

Disciple Bible Study series is a structured 32 - 34  week comprehensive study of the Bible.  Classes are offered in the fall as requested and continue through the spring.

Other Studies

In addition to Disciple and Christian Believers Bible Studies, other short-term studies are offered periodically.  Themes may range from the light-hearted  Back to Mayberry Bible Study to more challenging classes, such as discovering ones spiritual gifts, or works by best selling author, Max Lucado, or other contemporary writers.

Emmaus Walk

Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual retreat, available to candidates who are 18 years or older, and is held periodically at Camp Sumatanga.  Columbiana United Methodist routinely sponsors and covers fees for individuals who wish to attend these retreats.  A local Emmaus Reunion Group meets the last Thursday night of each month in our Multi Purpose Room.

 Men’s Fellowship

Each Monday morning at 6:45, the smell of fresh coffee and breakfast favorites fills the Dining Room.  These aromas help set the mood for a group of dedicated men, who come together for a time of devotion, fellowship and good food.

For Our Ladies

There are two active United Methodist Women’s circles at Columbiana United Methodist.  The groups meet on the third Monday of each month, and are active in mission projects on local, district and national levels.

Each Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm a group of ladies meet in our Dining Room to enjoy a Scrapbooking Class.  While working on individual Memory Books and Scrapbooks, they share ideas and enjoy fellowship.

Saint's Alive!

Monthly covered dish luncheons are held the third Tuesday of each month for our Senior Citizens.  The group comes together in the Dining Room to share favorite recipes and fellowship.  Special speakers or activities are often included in these gatherings.

A traveling group of retirees, known as Saints Alive! periodically take day trips to points of interest around the state.

For the more adventurous, longer trips are planned once or twice per year to such destinations are Branson, Missouri; Gatlinburg, Tennessee; or Nashville, Tennessee.

Other Opportunities

There are always new and seasonal activities appearing on the church calendar.  Whatever your spirit gift, there is always a place for it and you.  Perhaps your interest lies in the area of Drama, working with children or youth, teaching an adult class or study, becoming a member of a church league ball team, or any number of other possibilities.  Just let us know what you are being called to do and be.
