Get Involved with CUMC Youth

We don’t require you to be a member of CUMC to attend, so anyone in 5th through 12th grade is more than welcome to come to any events we are offering!

Our youth Sunday school class is laid back and conversational by design. Classes include Bible reading, videos, and discussion. Everyone who attends Sunday School will be provided the resources they need (including a Bible if they don’t already own one), and there is no need to prepare in advance. We welcome anyone of any faith background to come and study the Bible with us.

Like our youth Sunday school, Wednesday night youth events are intended to be casual and welcoming. Students enjoy a communal meal and time of fellowship before spending time in Bible study together. Wednesday night Bible studies often feature games and other activities to help the students grow closer to one another and to better understand the night’s lesson. A favorite tradition of our youth is the weekly “Pows and Wows” in which they share the ups and the downs from their week so far.

Confirmation is the process through which youth can become members of the United Methodist Church. It includes a series of in-depth studies with the Pastor learning about what it means to be a Christian and to be a United Methodist. At the end of Confirmation classes, students may choose whether or not they wish to be confirmed. Confirmation is offered every few years. If you are interested in Confirmation, please reach out to the Pastor or a youth volunteer.

We want to create a space for youth to create close connections within their faith community and we’ve found that retreats allow the youth to grow closer to their peers and grow deeper into their faith. Retreats are generally planned for Spring Break and Summer. Check with a youth volunteer to learn about any upcoming retreats!
